Different Sorts of Laboratories

 

 

Laboratories are place where many scientific researches and other researches are done. There are different types of Laboratories.

A laboratory is a facility that provides controlled conditions in which scientific research, measurement and experiments are performed. There are different types of Labs to name some Medical Laboratories, Hospital Laboratories, Public Health Laboratories, Computer Laboratories, Film Laboratories and more.

 

Medical Laboratories: Medical Laboratory is a lab where tests are done on clinical specimens in order to know the health condition of a patient to prevent diseases.

 

There are three types of Medical Laboratories:

  • Clinical Microbiology Laboratories: Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Immunology, Serology.

  • Clinical Pathology Laboratories: These include Hematology, Histopathology, Cytology and Routine Pathology.

  • Clinical Biochemistry Laboratories: Biochemical analysis, Hormonal assays etc

 

Hospital Laboratories: Hospital Laboratories can be found in hospitals and the technicians perform tests on patients.

 

  • Blood Bank: Blood bank refers to a division of a hospital laboratory where the storage of blood product occurs and where proper testing is performed to reduce the risk of transfusion related events.

  • X-Ray: X-ray is an instrument to analysis the solid materials. X-radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation. They take the images of the inside of objects.

 

Public Health Laboratories: Public Laboratories operate as a first line of defense to protect the public against diseases and other health related issues. Public health laboratories provide environmental and radiological testing, emergency response support, clinical diagnostic testing, disease surveillance, applied research, laboratory training and other essential services to the communities

Computer Laboratories: A room which contains may networked computers for public usage. These labs are basically found in schools, colleges, libraries, government buildings, community centers.

 

Film Laboratories: Film laboratories are used by film makers where specialists develop, print and conform film material for film production and distribution.
